Wintersköl - Aspen Winter Festival

Aspen
January 8 - 11, 2009
Wintersköl

Event Description

Wintersköl, Aspen's annual toast to winter, celebrates its 57th anniversary.

Wintersköl
Wintersköl sums up the character of Aspen. Wintersköl features more than 40 events in downtown Aspen and at all four ski areas: Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass Mountain. Favorites include the Fashion Show, the Buttermilk Uphill Race, Wintersculpt, and a spectacular torchlight descent and fireworks over Aspen Mountain. There are always a few surprises, too. Wintersköl dates back to a quiet January in 1951 when local Aspenites decided to celebrate Aspen's unique Nordic lifestyle with an eclectic weekend of festivities - mostly floorshows at local taverns. As Aspen has grown and evolved into a world-class resort, Wintersköl has matured into an elaborate, well-organized event with major corporate sponsors and international talent. But the celebration retains its purpose as a week of fun in the snow for residents and visitors.
