Aspen Snowmass Baggage Allowance

Baggage fees are changing daily, please refer to the air carriers website directly for the latest fees.

United Airlines

as of 9/23/08.

Here are the facts of how the fees should be applied for the domestic 50 states, Canada, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

  • First bag service fee is $15 one-way.
  • Second bag service fee is $50 one-way for any tickets issued on or after 9/16/08 for travel starting on or after 11/10/08. The previous bag service fee was $25 one-way and would still apply for any tickets issued for travel on or before 11/9/08.
  • Skis count as regular baggage, so if you checked skis alone, you would be charged a $15 first bag service fee. If you checked skis and a regular-sized piece of luggage, you would be charged both a $15 first bag service fee and a $25 second bag service fee. Skis are not considered an oversized item subject to the larger than 62 linear inches rule which otherwise would be considered an oversized bag and subject to our oversized bag service fee.
  • One ski bag, containing 1 pair of skis and poles, plus 1 boot bag (containing boots and binding only) is allowed in place of one checked baggage. If additional ski equipment is checked, a standard-sized special item fee will apply as outlined above. If combined weight of ski bag and boot bag exceed 50 pounds (23 kg), an overweight fee applies.
  • One snowboard bag, plus one boot bag (containing boots and binding only) is allowed in place of one checked baggage. If additional snowboard equipment is checked, a standard-sized special item fee will apply as outlined above.
  • If combined weight of snowboard bag and boot bag exceeds 50 pounds (23 kg) an overweight fee applies.
  • For any excess check bags over two a $125 per bag fee applies and for an additional checked bag after that a $250 per bag fee applies.
