About Aspen Santa Fe Ballet
Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is a leader in the dance world. With an innovative repertoire directed by some of the most sought after choreographers in the world and a company of ten exceptionally talented dancers, Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is one of the leading small dance companies around today. Aspen Santa Fe Ballet produces a year-round calendar of performances in Aspen, Colorado and Santa Fe, New Mexico and tours seasonally around the world. The company is led by directors Tom Mossbrucker and Jean-Philippe Malaty, and has made landmark appearances at the famed Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival and the Joyce Theater in New York City.Location Information
All performances are held at the Aspen District Theatre unless otherwise noted, located in the Aspen Elementary School on Maroon Creek Road. From Highway 82, take the roundabout to Maroon Creek Road. ASPEN SANTA FE BALLET
July 17 - 19Aspen Santa Fe Ballet kicks off the 2008 summer season of dance with brand new works by three top tier choreographers: Jorma Elo from Finland, Itzik Galili from Israel and a multimedia work by Nicolo Fonte. The program will conclude with Noir Blanc by Moses Pendleton.
ASPEN SANTA FE BALLET FOR KIDS
July 19, 4:00pmDon’t miss Aspen Santa Fe’s special kids-length performance including a selection from Moses Pendleton’s magical Noir Blanc. Kids will be hypnotized by the dance illusions and mystical black and white creatures that float across the stage.
BALLET BOYZ
July 24 & 25The Ballet Boyz is a cheeky original and innovative force in dance. The company combines multi-media elements of film and video, pop music and new work from today’s contemporary choreographers.
HUBBARD STREET DANCE CHICAGO
July 29 - 31Hubbard Street Dance Chicago is celebrating 30 years as one of the most renowned dance institutions in the world. This is their fourth appearance in Aspen. An exuberant, athletic and innovative style make this a must-see performance.
ASPEN SANTA FE BALLET AT THE BENEDICT MUSIC TENT
August 6Aspen Santa Fe Ballet is collaborating with the Aspen Music Festival for an evening of dance and music. The program features 1st Flash, choreographed by Jorma Elo and danced to Finnish composer Jean Sibelius’ Violin Concerto in D Minor. The second performance, Wolfgang is choreographed by David Parsons, and set to the music of Wolfgang Mozart.
DANCEBRAZIL
August 8 & 9DanceBrazil makes its Aspen debut this year. They bring us the power and beauty of Afro-Brazilian culture, blending elements of Capoeira with live music, athletic leaps and lots of color.
DANCEBRAZIL FOR KIDS
August 9, 4:00pmTake a trip to the tropics! DanceBrazil’s energy and exhilarating rhythms delight the young and the young at heart. This show, created especially for children, will stay with you long after you leave the theatre.
